Webinar 52: AI as Governance
In a provocative new article, Johns Hopkins Professor Henry Farrell makes the case that AI (like code) is a form of governance. He notes that it is a bureaucratic system such as markets, bureaucracy, and democracy. Such systems make “complex human relations tractable.” He argues that AI “is a technology of governance, asking how AI’s capacities to classify information at scale affect markets, bureaucracy, and democracy. And AI has its own “mechanisms of representation and coordination.” Join us as we discuss how AI governs us and how we may govern AI.
